Vinayakar Chatuthi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, also known as Vinayaka. It usually falls in the month of August or September. The festival typically lasts for 10 days, with the main celebrations held on the fourth day, which is Chathurthi.

During Vinayakar Chatuthi, devotees bring clay idols of Lord Ganesha into their homes and install them for worship. They offer prayers, perform rituals and sing devotional songs in praise of the deity. Modak, a sweet dumpling, is considered Lord Ganesha's favorite food and is offered as a prasad (holy offering) during the festival.

On the tenth day, known as Ananta Chaturdashi, the idols are taken in a grand procession and immersed in water bodies like rivers, lakes or the sea. This process is known as Ganesha visarjan or immersion and symbolizes Lord Ganesha's return to his celestial abode. The visarjan is accompanied by singing and dancing, creating a festive atmosphere.
